Singapore Airlines picks Perth for new 787-10 flights

22 February, 2018

Western Australia has scored another business, trade and tourism win with Singapore Airlines choosing Perth Airport as the first Australian destination for its new Boeing 787-10 aircraft.

The use of the Boeing 787-10 will add another 38,000 seats to Singapore Airlines’ Perth-Singapore route.

Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown says the decision is another vote of confidence in Western Australia’s tourism sector.

“Singapore Airlines has a reputation for quality service and this new aircraft delivers another step up in passenger comfort,” Mr Brown said.

“Singapore is an incredibly important market for Western Australia and is currently our third largest in-bound tourist market.

“Singapore Airlines has a long and proud record of linking Perth with Singapore – a relationship which has delivered benefits for more than 50 years.

“It’s fantastic that Perth Airport has been chosen as the first Australian destination for these new aircraft.

“It’s going to boost Perth’s profile in our region and build even more momentum for WA to be the destination of choice for tourists from Asia – a potential market of more than four billion people.”

Singapore Airlines currently operates four daily flights to Perth from their Singapore hub, with the 787-10 to replace one of these services. The new 787-10 flights are expected to commence in May 2018, subject to regulatory approvals.
