WA's best brews on show at Perth Airport
Boy are we great at creating a good ol' refreshing brew in Western Australia, so why not use your time at the airport to give some of WA's best a try.
There’s nothing like an ice-cold ale before you board, right? Right.
WA has its fair share of boutique breweries, so hops (get it!) on over to Three Bears (T3) for a Cheeky Monkey Session Red Ale, brewed by hand in the Margaret River Region. Don’t think the decision will come as easy as that though, as you’ll have to ponder over whether you’ll instead want a refreshing Eagle Bay Brewing Co beer, brewed in small batches in Dunsborough in the South West.
Head next door to Gibson + Giles where you can also try Gage Roads’ Narrow Neck or Sleeping Giant craft ales, all inspired by our absolutely perfect spot (shhhh!) right here on the west coast.
They brew some pretty good beer up in the top end too. Family-owned Matso’s Broome Brewery is Australia’s remotest brewery. But we’ve saved you the 2,218km trek, so visit T1 International’s 6000 Acres, Haymarket or Loco Poco, or T1 Domestic’s Toby’s Estate to try their beer.
If you haven't yet had the chance to visit Fremantle’s pride and joy, the (original) Little Creatures Brewery, then don’t sweat. You won’t have trouble finding their range of Pale Ale, IPA, Rogers Ale and Elsie Ale, as their brews are pretty much available at most of our bars & dining spots (we’re big fans!).
FYI... there are some super talented distillers here in the west making waves in the boutique spirits game.
Margaret River’s West Winds Gin has won a slew of awards in Australia and overseas and now you can get your pre-flight relax on with the help of some of their finely crafted gin, which you'll find at Three Bears (T3) or Loco Poco (T1 International). If vodka is more your poison, at Three Bears try a swig of The Grove Distillery’s Vodka, a top-shelf spirit made by Margaret River’s very first distillery.
Psst... gin lovers! Giniversity Botanical Gin by Margaret River Distilling Co is individually crafted using handpicked botanicals that reflect a unique native Australian recipe. And it’s available to try at both our Long Neck Public House outlets at T1 International and T1 Domestic. Gin and Tonic thanks…!
Did you know, our Margaret River Region in WA’s South West – thanks to it being blessed with mild weather and abundant sunshine – produces over 15 per cent of Australia’s premium wine? So, if you haven’t yet managed to squeeze in a renowned Margaret River wine tour (must-do!), never fear, we’ve got you sorted here!
First stop, T3’s Blackwood Beer & Wine where you can savour a Will’s Domain Shiraz Rose or Blanc de Blanc, Churubino Sauvignon Blanc or a robust Cabernet Merlot from Sandalford Wines, which offers fine flavours from their Swan Valley and Margaret River vineyards.
Wine connoisseurs will surely know the award-winning Vasse Felix Wines (Margaret River’s founding wine estate). Long Neck Public House (T1 International and T1 Domestic) serve their uber popular Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, while their fruit-intense Chardonnay can be enjoyed at Loco Poco (T1 International) after you’ve passed through security.
Howard Park handcrafts their wines using the highest quality fruit from vineyards in both the Great Southern and Margaret River wine regions of WA. Chardonnay lovers can order a glass from Haymarket (T1 International), while Shiraz addicts can stop by Loco Poco (T1 International). Let’s not forget Macchinetta (T1 International), where you can sit back and relax with a MadFish Shiraz or Sauvignon Blanc, contemporary cool climate wines inspired by the wild, coastal and pure characteristics of our South West.
So whether you're a beer enthusiast, wine lover, spirits fan - or don't mind them all! - you've got plenty of Local & Loved choices available to try next time you're waiting to board your flight. Cheers!
