Perth Airport welcomes new services from AirAsia Berhad
Perth Airport Acting Chief Executive Officer Kate Holsgrove said that AirAsia Berhad will commence operating a service between Perth and Kuala Lumpur in March 2024 providing more options for those travelling between Western Australia and Malaysia’s capital.
“Malaysia is Western Australia’s fifth biggest international visitor market, injecting $88 million into the WA economy in visitor expenditure for the year ending in June.
“Malaysia is also a popular holiday destination and, combined with a large number of passengers also visiting friends and relatives, will continue to be an important market for outbound visitation.
“We’ve got strong business, education, trade and tourism links with Malaysia and this new non-stop service provides further opportunities.”
“This is another significant step forward in WA’s international aviation recovery – and it is positive to see more airlines wanting to operate out of Perth Airport.
“We look forward to building a strong partnership with AirAsia Berhad to ensure the success of this service.”
AirAsia Berhad (AK) will operate the service on their narrow-body A321 neo aircraft which has 236 seats.
These services will be in addition to services from AirAsia X that operates wide-body A330 aircraft between Perth and Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia AirAsia that operates services between Perth and the Indonesian cities of Denpasar (Bali) and Jakarta.
