Air New Zealand to launch new Perth - Christchurch service

20 May, 2026

Perth Airport has welcomed Air New Zealand’s announcement that it will launch a new extended seasonal non-stop service between Perth and Christchurch from November 2026.

The service will operate three times per week from 30 November 2026 to 7 May 2027, adding up to 37,000 seats to the market and giving travellers more choice to explore both destinations.

Perth Airport Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said the new route provides a strong boost for Western Australia’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

“Christchurch and the South Island are popular destinations for Western Australians to explore, offering a varied mix of tourism experiences,” Ms Holsgrove said.

Ms Holsgrove said international travel through Perth Airport continues to go from strength to strength.

“It is great to see growth during a challenging time globally, demonstrating that Perth and Western Australia are great destinations, offering world class experiences.

“The service will deliver meaningful benefits for tourism and hospitality businesses across Western Australia, while making it even easier for visitors to experience everything our state has to offer.

“The launch of this service highlights Air New Zealand’s ongoing commitment to Western Australia and builds on its daily Auckland services, further strengthening connectivity between our two regions.”

Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays using Air New Zealand’s newly retrofitted Boeing 787-9 aircraft, featuring redesigned Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
