You are here:

Passing through Terminal 3 soon? Here's where you can eat like us locals do

Whether you're about to begin that super-duper long journey to London or transit over to the east coast (on what can also feel like a super-duper long trip), we've got special WA treats for your taste buds here at the newly renovated Terminal 3.

Meat lovers rejoice

Named after Yallingup surf hotspot, Three Bears has a substantial menu that showcases the true taste of WA. Some of the favourites include their signature Prime Harvey Beef 250g Scotch Fillet Steak, topped with your choice of mustard or chilli butter, and served with potato rosti and fresh salad. Or tuck into their Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Burger featuring chicken from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills and Margaret River cheddar. A Gage Roads' ice-cold Narrow Neck or Sleeping Giant, brewed and bottled down at Freo, or a Triple G Ginger Beer from Margaret River Beverages will go nicely too.

Beef lovers won't be able to go past Blackwood Beer & Wine's Trio of Sliders, made with beef sourced from the pristine farming town of Harvey, 140km south of Perth, and served in an artisan brioche bun with homemade pepper berry relish. Or wait... their Tuscan Style Meatballs, also made with prime Harvey Beef and served in a rich tomato sauce, is perfectly paired with a local drop of Sandalford Wines' Cabernet Merlot.

Whose fish'n chips is best is an age-old question. So our new influx of British visitors, flying in from London on Qantas' new service, can taste test our version at Three Bears and decide for themselves. The fish is fresh from down south in Albany and its beer batter is even made using Margaret River's tasty Cheeky Monkey beer.

It's all about the cheese (and the breads!)

Us locals well know that a trip down to Margs is all about the cheese (well yes, and the wine!). The Margaret River Dairy Company is a WA icon to foodies like us and we can't get enough. Their brie, camembert and cheddars are handcrafted using traditional farmhouse methods... and... you can try a fine selection of them if you order Blackwood Beer & Wine's Cheese Platter. "Yes!!" we hear you say.

One of our other fav small fills from Blackwood Beer & Wine is their selection of local artisan baked breads from Artisan Loafers, served with Olio Bello Virgin Olive Oil (another Margaret River hotspot by the way) and fresh dukkha from our favourite local native herbs & spices specialist, Roogenic.

And... duh... the wines!

What are fresh breads and cheeses without the wines? Pair them with a Will's Domain Shiraz Rose or Blanc de Blanc, Churubino Sauvignon Blanc or a robust Cabernet Merlot from Sandalford Wines, which offers fine flavours from their Swan Valley and Margaret River vineyards. You'll find these on the menu at Blackwood Beer & Wine.

While we know they're not wines, at Three Bears we'd really recommend you try a swig of the finely crafted West Winds Gin or The Grove Distillery's Vodka, made by some super talented distillers here in the west who are making waves in the boutique spirits game.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

We've got the perfect beverage to prep those about to head off on a 17-hour jaunt across the world. Roogenic's Native Relaxation Tea is a sleeping tea that actually works (!!). Their range also comes in Lemon Myrtle & Rose and Strawberry flavours, and their ingredients are carefully selected for their natural properties as recognised by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years. You'll find them up for grabs at Gibson + Giles and Three Bears.

Coffee aficionados (yes, we know caffeine dehydrates, but hey) will love the top-notch blend on offer at Gibson + Giles from our specialty coffee roasting mates at Blacklist Coffee Roasters, located in Perth suburb, Welshpool. They even won a Gold medal at the 2018 Australian International Coffee Awards for this Queen Bee blend (making it the highest scoring coffee from WA and one of only seven Gold Medals awarded internationally), so you sure know it'll be good!
