Transformation Of Perth Airport

As the gateway to Western Australia, Perth Airport is one of the State’s most important elements of public infrastructure and  plays a significant role in much of the State’s economic, social and cultural activities.

Over the past seven years,  the number of passengers travelling through Perth Airport has doubled, with 11.5 million passengers recorded in the last financial year, making Perth Airport the fastest growing capital city airport in Australia.

We are investing $750 million in three years to ensure Perth Airport delivers a great  airport experience – one of which we can all be proud.

Innovation in design to ensure a superior customer experience, and environmental sustainability have been the primary considerations in the transformation of Perth Airport. 

 Exciting things are happening:

• Construction is well underway on the new domestic terminal being built next to the current International Terminal which will service the needs of regional WA and some interstate routes. 
• The expansion of the arrivals and departures areas of the current International Terminal  will commence shortly. 
•  A new domestic pier will become home to Virgin Australia in 2014. 
•  Dedicated pick-up and drop-off areas  and easy access to taxis and buses for arriving and departing passengers are also planned. 
• Construction of a multi-storey carpark will commence in 2014.

This represents the first stage towards having all commercial air services operating from one convenient location within the next 10 years.
