Major development plans
As a leased federal airport, Perth Airport is required to develop a Major Development Plan (MDP) for major airport developments.
Draft Major Development Plans undergo public consultation before being submitted to the Commonwealth Minister for Infrastructure and Transport for development approval. Here are our latest Major Development Plans.
New Runway ProjectThe public comment period for the New Runway Project Preliminary Draft Major Development Plan has now closed.
We will consider all feedback received and, where possible, incorporate the concerns and issues raised in the Draft Major Development Plan which will be presented to the Commonwealth Minister for consideration.
The final Major Development Plan will be published on this webpage once it has been approved by the Minister.

Site 6: Large Format Retail Outlet
The Major Development Plan for the Site 6: Large Format Retail Outlet within the Perth Airport estate was approved by the Hon. Michael McCormack MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, on 13 November 2018. Perth Airport was also required to obtain approval for an Offset Strategy and a PFAS & Contamination Management Plan for the project.
Direct Factory Outlet
The Major Development Plan for a Direct Factory Outlet on the Perth Airport estate was approved by the Hon. Darren Chester MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, on 10 November 2016.
The Major Development Plan Minor Variation, which details the Living Stream drainage system associated with the Direct Factory Outlet, was approved by the Hon. Darren Chester MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, on 5 April 2017.
The Major Development Plan for the Forrestfield-Airport Link was approved by the Hon. Warren Truss MP, then Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development on 30 November 2015.
