7 ways to have yourself a merry little Christmas at Perth Airport
Christmas is the busiest time of year for travel. We see people flying home to their loved ones, or escaping and taking some well-earned holidays, or meeting and greeting their family and friends.
Wherever you’re headed, we’ve put together some tips to help start your Christmas travel journey in the most festive of spirits at Perth Airport.
1. Plan your trip in advance
We are expecting more than 2 million passengers to pass through our terminals this festive season. Remember to check which of our four terminals your flight is departing from and make sure to leave yourself plenty of time to get to the airport.
Online shopping at Christmas is a life-saver. Get your Christmas gifts sorted to collect at the airport. Simply order your duty-free shopping online, nominate your collection point and pick up your goodies on your way through to your gate.
2. Get the App
Travel easy with the Perth Airport app. Get live flight information and status updates, plan your trip to and from the airport with traffic notifications, easily book parking, and pin your parking spot location for easy recall when you return from your trip. We don’t underestimate how handy that last one is.
3. Get some shut eye
Rest easy at Perth Airport before you head away for the silly season. We're the first airport in Australia to trial sleeping pods. Sleeping pods are located at T1 Domestic, ground floor (before security screening) and can be booked by the hour. The pods are specifically designed for rest and relaxation, similar in design to a business class flatbed. Hand luggage can be stored safely under the seat during use, and a moveable, breathing shade offers privacy. The chairs also have USB and GPO plugs to charge laptops or phones while you rest.
4. Share a Christmas feast
If you’re leaving family and friends behind this Christmas, why not enjoy one last meal together before you say goodbye. There are 22 food and beverage outlets across our terminals to choose from. Our menus are packed full of Western Australia's local flavours, so enjoy one last taste of our great state before you take to the skies.
5. Win a trip to Santa's village
Travelex is giving you a chance to win a trip for 4 to Santa's village in Lapland, Finland. Simply make a foreign exchange purchase over $1,000 for your chance to win.^ 6 customers will also get the chance to each win $500 on a Travel Money Card.
Hurry, the promotion ends 13 January 2019.
6. See the Christmas lights
We’ve got some golden (literally) decorations around the terminals and forecourts at Perth Airport this Christmas. The kangaroos are always a crowd favourite, and you can't miss our giant boab tree. Share your snaps with us on Instagram using #perthairport.
Don't miss the steps at T1 - we've got a few Aussie classics in our decorations this year.
7. Spot Santa
If you're travelling internationally between Friday 21st December - Monday 24th December, you might run into the big man himself! He'll be visiting T1 International, spreading Christmas cheer, on;
- Friday 21 December, from 1pm - 4pm
- Saturday 22 December, from 3pm - 6pm
- Sunday 23 December, from 1pm - 4pm
- Monday 24 December, from 2pm - 5pm
Don't miss your last chance to give him your wish-list in person!
We'll also have carol singers at T1/T2 on:
- Thursday 20 December, from 6pm - 8pm
- Saturday 22 December, from 3pm - 6pm
From all of us at Perth Airport, we wish you a very merry Christmas, wherever you may be celebrating in this big world of ours.
