ASIC Online Information for Individuals

Important Update

As a result of an increase in background checking costs, the price of an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) application for an adult will rise to $410 for all applications received on or after 30 June 2026.

 

Your employer must initiate your ASIC application via ASIC Online.

  • You will receive an email invitation with a link to ASIC online and your log in details.
  • If you can't complete your application at one time, you will be able to save it and return at any time.
  • Each section of the application must be completed before progressing. You will be unable to submit the application until all sections are completed.
  • Once an application is submitted it cannot be edited.
  • When your application has been approved by your employer, you will receive a confirmation email advising you to attend the Airport Services Office for ID Verification and a photograph (click here to view ID requirements)
  • Please ensure that you bring the original documents that you selected to support your online application.
  • A $240 non-refundable fee is payable at this time as well as a $50 deposit which is refundable when the ASIC is returned
  • After you have attended the Airport Services Office you will receive an email with your log in details for AIRDAT Passport and a link to the ASIC Training which needs to be completed prior to picking up your card.
  • When your ASIC Application has been processed and your card is ready for collection your employer will be notified.
  • If you have an existing ASIC or Visitor Pass, please return it when collecting your ASIC.

Background Checks

All ASIC Application are subject to a background check through Auscheck. Background checks only commence after your application has been lodged and payment has been made. These checks can take up to 6 weeks.

Using Your ASIC

Expired ASIC

Under the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005, you must return an expired ASIC to your issuing body within one month. Failure to do so may incur a penalty exceeding $3,300.

If you are eligible to redeem a deposit, please bring the completed Deposit Refund Request Form, along with the expired ASIC to the Airport Services Office.

Lost or Destroyed ASIC

To replace your ASIC, you will need to complete a Statutory Declaration outlining the circumstances of the loss or destruction of your ASIC. The declaration also needs to contain confirmation that you have not been convicted of any aviation related offence since your last background check.

Stolen ASIC

Stolen ASIC's must be reported to police. You will need to complete a Statutory Declaration outlining the circumstances of the theft along with the police report number or other information given by police. The declaration also needs to contain confirmation that you have not been convicted of any aviation related offence since your last background check.

Changing Employment

Notify the Airport Services Office of your change of employment so your ASIC details and access can be updated.

Ceased Employment

Providing Access to Others

Under no circumstance is an ASIC to be given to another person. ASIC holders must ensure that no person tailgates them into a Security Restricted Area
